Mani Ratnam is renowned for bringing depth into what would be an otherwise every-day story of a script. Think about it! Can’t you imagine someone you personally know as the characters that he paints, when you minus the drama and dancing? Yes, he is one to give life to emotions, giving him a niche among his fans that live to see human experiences retold in cinema.

In recent updates, Mani Ratnam is set to bring his new movie Ponniyin Selvan to life. Based on Kalki’s 5-part novella, Ponniyin Selvan, this movie is expected to have a successful run at the box office like his last masterpiece, Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, that showcased a racy cast among whom were Arvind Swamy, STR, Vijay Sethupathi and Jyothika.

At the moment, pre-production works are at full swing. There has been some speculation that Anushka Shetty is set to join Aishwarya Rai in this epic and to play a pivotal role too. However, the Baahubali star has yet to confirm her involvement in the project.

So far, what is confirmed is that Aishwarya Rai will definitely be seen in this film. The actress announced her involvement in the project during the 2019 Cannes Film Festival. This is the fourth time Aishwarya will be collaborating with Mani Ratnam after Iruvar, Guru and Raavanan and that too, after 9 years!

As for Anushka Shetty, she is currently shooting for the Hemanth Madhukar-directed thriller, Silence, along with Madhavan, Anjali and Shalini Pandey.
