Mani Ratnam’s upcoming masterpiece, Ponniyin Selvan is currently in pre-production and fans are already feeling the heat all around the world! The ace filmmaker who began his journey with Pallavi Anu Pallavi has certainly built a niche for himself that has redefined the range and depth of Indian Cinema.

The writer-director was last seen directing the commercial winner of all crime-dramas, Chekka Chivantha Vaanam.

In exciting updates for Ponniyin Selvan, word on the street is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been signed to play a pivotal role in this epic!

Written based on Kalki’s 5-part novel, Ponniyin Selvan, there have been speculations that Aishwarya would be seen portraying a negative role in this movie. However, credible sources have said that Aishwarya would be, in fact, essaying the role of Nandhini from the novel, in a move to debunk those rumors.

This will be her fourth collaboration with Mani Ratnam following Iruvar, Guru and Raavan/Raavanan. It’s been nine years since Aishwarya last graced the silver screens of a Tamil movie. So her fans are definitely eagerly awaiting her performance in Ponniyin Selvan.
