Known for the various roles he has helmed in the industry, C.K. Kumaresan is no new name in th Malaysian entertainment scene. Fun fact about this local hero, he started off behind the scenes as a part of the crew before he found his place infront of the camera. How did he come to be who we know him to be today? RAAGA got an exclusive interview with him just for you, our beloved readers!

RAAGA:  What’s your secret of staying strong in this industry for so long?

CK: My passion towards film making was the foundation and I worked hard to build my career. I also have to acknowledge audience recognition for my craft and acting that has kept me going strong in this industry.

RAAGA:  Why did you go from acting to producing movies?

CK: To me, it’s the next step to upgrade myself as a film maker and one of the way I can contribute towards the improvement Malaysian Tamil Film Industry.

RAAGA:  At what age did you know that this is the path for you?

CK: During my schooling years, upper secondary to be specific.

RAAGA: How did you start off in this industry? What is the first project you worked on and how did that progress?

CK: Having passion for film making, I approached a few production companies, mainly Malay film companies to get opportunity to work behind the scene and gain experience. I then studied in  a film school . The first project I worked on was a Malay drama .

RAAGA: Tell us about your involvement in Gerak Khas and how that helped you plant your roots in the Malay scene.

CK:  I started off as an actor in the series and now I'm directing as well. I've been involved with the series for 12 years . Being involved with Gerak Khas helped me alot as it grew to become one of the highest rated drama in RTM and the Malay scene. It is through this series that I gained recognition among Malay producers and directors.

RAAGA: What new projects do you have in the pipeline? 

CK: Saran Z's movie, Ennaval in which I am playing the lead role will be releasing soon (26th September) . I have also completed a feature film under my own banner CK FILMS, it is going through post production at the moment ans a few more films are in the pre production stage.  

RAAGA:  What word of advice can you give to aspiring actors?

CK: Be productive ..Work towards your aim to achieve and please don't ever divert or give up on your goals.
