Karnan Kanapathy, predominantly known as Karnan G Crak, is a very well-known local artist for his unique performance and notable collaboration in local as well as international. He born and raised in Klang. He had to drop his studies after SPM due to his family commitments after the demise of his father and began to work to support his mother and siblings.
He began his career as a rapper in 2006. After done with multiple works as underground creator, in 2009, Karnan got an opportunity to work as a shortfilm crew under Director S.Balachandar, who is very well known for his recent Astro series, Jeeyum Neeyum. In that shortfilm, he received an opportunity to play a supporting actor which also his first acting experience. Then, Karnan made as a lead in the shortfilm titled, Kickstart under Director S. Balachandran himself in the year 2010. His performance in that shortfilm was very applauded by the critics and his journey in this industry began from there.
Karnan made his theatrical debut with the movie, Geethaiyin Raadhai directed by Shalini Balasundaram. The movie became the talk of the town during the time of its release and also topped the Malaysia Tamil Movie box office in the year 2016. He then continued to be a part of many Malaysian Tamil movies such as Jagat, Jhangri, Sughamaai Subbulakshmi, Athigaari and many more as one of the lead actors, supporting character and also as the antagonist. His recently released movie, Ninaivo Oru Paravai by Kabilan Plondran is also garning him various appreciation for his versatile performance throughout the film.
Karnan also made his contribution to Malaysian Tamil Tv scene as lead in Swaralayam (series), Sivanthu Pochu Nenju (series), Astra (series), Naran (telemovie) and many more. As well as in local, Karnan is also collaborating with Singapore actively for their projects such as Avathaaram by T.Suriavelan, Kavasam and Annamalai.
Karnan has also grabbed several awards for his performance and also creative contributions ever since his acting debut. In 2010, with his debut in acting, he won the Best Actor for his shortfilm, Kickstart in BMW Shorties Award 2010. Karnan also awarded as the Icon of the Year in MICA Awards 2019.
