You’re inspecting the exterior of your walls—and you find out that they’re peeling off. Oh no!

Don’t panic, though—there are ways to fix this. But first, let’s understand the reasons why your house walls are peeling:
#1 High humidity

High humidity leads to moisture build-up on your walls—and walls absorb moisture like a sponge! This results in the coatings blistering and bulging. In the end, you’ll have cracked and chipped layers of paint.
#2 Condensation

Condensation causes dampness, which favours the growth of mould. Fungus causes the layers of paint to ‘lift up’ and flake. Condensation usually happens during and after a rainstorm and can spoil new coats of paint, too.
#3 Intense sunlight and high temperatures

You probably complain about how hot it is in Malaysia—now, if walls could talk, they would probably do the same thing!
Your house walls are exposed to direct sunlight. When the structure’s surface gets very hot, it’ll start to blister (you’ll see ‘bubbles’ appear in the paint). Excessive blistering can lead to the paint peeling off, while the addition of the inevitable wind and rain will separate it from the wall.
#4 Lack of surface preparation

Before any walls are painted on, it’s important for the surface to be properly prepared. It’s possible that you or someone else who worked on your house didn’t use a sealer, which is important to prevent peeling.
Improperly placed seam tapes and incomplete joint compounds could also be reasons why your paint isn’t sticking.
#5 Low quality paints

It’s important that you do some research on high quality paints before you do anything to your walls. If you’re going to fix or repaint your exterior walls, we recommend using Nippon Paint Weatherbond range.
