Oh, let’s not forget all the yummy Deepavali snacks we’re going to eat too 😋!
Have you ever wondered which part of India do they come from? Well, it’s time to find out:
#1 Murukku

Everyone’s favourite go-to snack during Deepavali! Murukku comes from the Southern part of India. Its name is derived from the Tamil word ‘twisted’, and is especially popular in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh.
#2 Laddoo

Its origin has been debated about for a long time. It’s said that the snack comes from the Eastern highlands of India, when a trainee assistant to a vaid accidentally poured more ghee than required, resulting in round balls forming. Sounds like a delicious ‘accident’! 😉
#3 Kesari

This dessert comes from South India, and is made with sugar, semolina (granulated wheat), ghee, raisins, cardamom, rose essence and cashews. There’s going to be a party in your mouth when you take a bite 😋!
#4 Teepi Gavvalu

This festive snack from Andhra Pradesh is made of flour and shaped into shells. They’re deep fried and dipped in sweet sugar syrup—a delicious combo!
#5 Achuku Murukku

No one really knows where achuku murukku comes from except that it has origins in South India and is especially popular in Kerala. Either way, this ‘rose murukku’ is the sweeter version of murukku since it’s made from sugar, eggs and coconut milk.
