Rice a staple food in most homes. But since rice is rich in carbohydrate, people often link it to weight gain, especially those who are health concious.

A researcher in Sri Lanka, Sudhari James found a way to cook rice which will not only reduce the calories in rice but has health benefits too.

Here’s what you should do:

1) Add coconut oil to a pot of water and leave it to boil for sometime. The water level should be 3 percent of the rice you want to cook.

2) Then add in rice to the pot and let it cook

3) Once cooked, refrigerate the rice for 12 hours before you plan to eat

4) After refrigerating it, heat the portion you want to have in the microwave before serving it.

Wondering what happened in this process?

a) The starch present in the rice is not equal hence you have to get away with  excess glycogen which is stored in the body.

So when you do this it will help reduce the digestible starch and will reduce the calorie intake.
