More good news to follow this year, there will be a toll reduction of 18 percent for PLUS toll users as early as Feb 1! We are definitely making good headway towards the abolishment of toll collection.

Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said that the government will not bear any extra burden with regards to the fare reduction and no reimbursements will be made to PLUS. The government has forecasted an estimated savings of RM42 billion throughout the concession period which is from 2020 till the end of 2058. Furthermore, there will be no increase in toll fares during the concession period.

Dr Mahathir said the action was taken after the government decided not to sell PLUS to any third parties and Khazanah Nasional Bhd alongside the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) will retain ownership of the shares in the company.
