Medical experts in India are baffled by a mysterious illness that has left more than 300 people sick and one dead after the new affliction was first reported on December 6th, 2020.
Patients treated for the unknown disease suffer from dizziness, fainting spells, headache and vomiting. Other symptoms include nausea, anxiety and loss of consciousness. They have tested negative for COVID-19. A team of doctors from the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences reported Tuesday that they found traces of lead and nickel in patients' blood samples, Reuters and the Times of India reported.
Based on the preliminary findings of the expert teams from it is reported that lead and nickel content found in drinking water around the affected areas is the primary cause of the illness. The mystery illness is not contiguous and the Indian officials have reported that the affected people were recovering well and there was no reason to panic.
The news of a new mystery illness had many worried of another possible pandemic-level threat, but with the recent findings and reports, it is safe to say the condition is under control.
