The Festival of Lights is here, and in a perfect world, Priya would be home, celebrating with her amma. However, real life doesn’t always turn out the way we want it to.

This Deepavali, Maxis tells a story of treasured connections, a mother who misses her child, and a saree struggle that many of us are all too familiar with. 🤭

It’s a celebration away from home for Priya this year as duty calls. Fortunately, it’s not a lonely one because she’s been invited to a friend’s Deepavali gathering.

Something unexpected happens…

The joy doesn’t last long because the second she arrives at the party, bad luck strikes. Priya steps on her saree and it comes undone!

To make matters worse, she doesn’t know how to tie a saree, and the one who usually does it for her—amma—is far away.

Amma on speed dial…

Regretting not paying attention to amma’s saree-tying lessons when she was younger, a helpless Priya reaches out to her mum on the phone.

With amma on one end of a video call, the physical distance between mother and daughter narrows as amma walks Priya through the steps to pleat and tie her saree.

Fashion crisis no more…

Thanking amma for saving the day, Priya realises that the saree drama is more than just a fashion situation—it’s a lesson in disguise.

The art of learning how to tie a saree is often a special bonding moment between a mother and her daughter. It’s a show of love and tradition that amma has been passing on to her over the years.

It’s an unconditional promise that no matter the distance, amma will always be there… even if it’s just over the phone.
