In life, we meet people and build friendships, but sometimes, commitments and priorities end up taking us in different directions. Remember that best friend from your childhood? Or the collegemate that you used to hang out with every day?
With Deepavali coming up, how about making time to reignite those cherished connections, much like what Revathy did with a very special friend recently.
The story goes back to a time when Revathy was in school

While preparing for the STPM examination, Revathy found herself desperately in need of a place to stay. It was during this trying period that a dear friend, Sumathi, offered her shelter and food.
However, life eventually took them on separate paths
As years went by, Revathy and Sumathi drifted apart. Though they stayed in touch occasionally, they never found time to meet… and it stayed that way for 14 long years.
Then Revathy picked up the phone and called...

Having been separated for a long time, the reunion finally happened, and it was an emotional one!
With tears streaming down Revathy’s cheeks, she recounted Sumathi’s acts of kindness, expressing gratitude to her friend: “If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have succeeded in my STPM and made it to university.”

Taking up the call to reconnect with old pals, Uthaya and Suresh had their own reunions too
Catching up with a friend who walked away
Uthaya once had a close friend named Chandran. They were inseparable until, unexpectedly, Chandran decided to leave their friendship. While their separation wasn't the result of an argument—it was due to Chandran’s personal issues, it left Uthaya heartbroken.

Determined to restore the bond, Uthaya and his friends made countless phone calls to Chandran, but to no avail. The persistence paid off 5 years later when they finally reconnected via a video call, and have since made plans to meet this Deepavali!
Making time for a bestie
Suresh and his cousin, Manoj, grew up together and were always there for each other’s families. Yet adulthood had a different plan for them. Suresh would end up becoming a radio announcer, and Manoj would land a job as a marine engineer, far away from his loved ones.

Missing the great moments they spent together, Suresh initiated a reunion. It was a heartwarming walk down memory lane, and an opportunity for Suresh to apologise for not being able to spend time at Manoj’s wedding. Manoj fortunately, had no ill feelings, and instead, affirmed that they’ll be “brothers for life”.
