The Johor government recently mandated marriage school for non-Muslims in the state and we at RAAGA think this is a smart move. If you’re wondering why, read on!
Many spend months and at times, their entire life, planning for the wedding of their dreams. However, little do they realize how unprepared they are to enter into a marriage. With the fact that the notion of marriage has evolved in meaning over the years, the fundamental values that holds a marriage together and builds a loving home are pretty much still the same.
However, many of us grow up without having any sort of discussions on this topic with our parents and are generally clueless on what to anticipate out of married life and how to handle the hurdles and challenges that may arise in this journey of a lifetime.
Prior to this, the federal government had already made it mandatory for every Muslim couple in the country to attend marriage school prior to tying the knot. Thinking about it from a logical point of view, the exercise would be useful for non-Muslims too, with emphasis on secular marriage values during lessons to help curb the rising divorce rate in the country.
