“A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than you love yourself”

Time again and again dogs have proven that truth lies in those words. And here’s another — a tale of one little dog from Wuhan who gripped at the heartstrings of netizens everywhere. This is a heartbreaking story of a loyal dog waiting for its owner on a bridge four days after his death.

It is believed that the pet had followed its owner on the evening of May 30^th, to a bridge where the owner sadly jumped into the river. According to the CCTV footage checked by the local officials it’s seen that the dog stayed quietly at its owner’s side, and soon after the owner jumped into the river, without hesitation. As the video was quite dark, they couldn’t identify the dog’s owner.

Mourning the loss of his owner, the little dog stayed at the same spot for days, looking out from the railing. A passerby by the name of Xu said that he passed by the bridge several times — no matter day or night, the pup would always be there. He posted the pictures on social media and said he hoped to adopt the pet, but it ran away. While speaking to a local newspaper Mr. Xu said:

 “We tried removing the dog, but no matter what, it will always come back to the same spot and stare at the Yangtze river.”

Respecting the dog’s decisions, Mr.Xu went home and told its story.

His devotion to his owner has brought tears to some social media users. The animal welfare organization is now striving to provide the pet with a loving new home and asks the residents for help in finding it. Speaking to Pear Video the director of the Wuhan Small Animal Protection Association quoted :

“We still hope to find a new owner for the dog. We find it too sad that such a loyal dog is wandering the street.”
