Suriya’s latest Jai Bhim received positive reviews from film critics and audiences all over.
The courtroom drama has impacted people so much that its IMDb rating has surpassed the rating of Hollywood’s popular drama The Shawshank Redemption.
The Tamil film, which was released on a streaming platform with an IMDb rating of 9.6 with 73k votes, has beaten the ratings of films like The Shawshank Redemption (9.3), The Godfather (9.2), another Suriya film, Soorarai Pottru (9.1) and The Dark Knight (9.0).
Jai Bhim stars Suriya, Lijomol Jose, K. Manikandan, Rajisha Vijayan, Prakash Raj, Rao Ramesh and others in supporting roles.
The film is based on a true incident in 1993, which involved a case fought by an Indian lawyer K. Chandru. The case follows Senggeni and Rajakannu, a couple from the Irular tribe.
Rajakannu was arrested by the police, and was later missing while in police custody. Senggeni seeks the help of Chandru, to seek justice for her husband. Chandru files a habeas corpus case and he refers to the Rajan case to continue further to find the truth.
