Sure, there's been racial tension brewing recently on social media, but just as there is dark, there will be light to be found.
Jasila Syed, 24, who goes by the twitter handle Sadqe Saret pulled quite the stunt that won the heart of many Malaysians recently. Like a firefly against the darkness of the night sky, Jasila’s act of fashioning a Malayalee saree along with her Hijab has caught the attention of local netizens as her pictures rocking the look went viral.
Playing bridesmaid at her friend’s wedding, Jasila fashioned her hijab to match the saree seamlessly as to celebrate her friend’s culture while staying true to her roots and religious believes.
Malaysians everywhere has took to their respective social media platforms to command her style and call for unity amongst Malaysians while noting her bravery for pulling such a stunt during what can only be described as turbulent times in the nation.
Many Indians couldn’t contain their excitement and commented on how beautiful she looked. One user even wrote: “I’m a Malaysian born Malayalee and I’m so proud of you for wearing our traditional saree and rocking it! Lots of love and respect for you!”
