Boredom is good for children, that's what was published by a Visiting Fellow in the University of East Anglia, Teresa Belton. Parents nowadays are quick to provide entertainment and education to their young children in the form of screen time through devices such as televisions, smartphones, and tablets.
A study carried out in Canada found that children who grew up in a town with no televisions possess better thinking skills and are more creative than those who are exposed to television. Reason being that when bored, children with televisions and tablets can immediately find a way to overcome boredom with these devices. However, when there are no quick solutions, they are encouraged to use their own thinking and creative skills to find ways to entertain themselves.
Here's a video to illustrate the reasons better:
Think about the days when you're younger, when there weren't any electronic devices to amuse you, didn't you and your friends come up with fun games to play using mere trinkets? The same applies to our children today. It might do them some good to limit their screen time.
