This Is Why You MUST Watch Battleground Malaysia: Road To Gold!

There’s so much talent in the street dance competition, but not everyone will have what it takes to make it to the end.

Check out electrifying performances as our nation’s hottest dance talents take the stage at Malaysia’s biggest street dance competition, Battleground Malaysia: Road to Gold! In case you missed the premiere on 29 Sept, here’s what happened:

It was an intense battle of the best

After rigorous auditions at AEON Mall Shah Alam last July, 70 dancers from different backgrounds, each representing their respective states, put their moves on display in the first episode of Battleground Malaysia: Road to Gold, brought to you by Astro and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The dancers were pitted against each other as they battled for a team cap and a spot in the dance captains’ squads. However, each captain—Legosam, Khenobu, Danny Lee and Seven—could only recruit 10 dancers each, so 30 of them were left without a team! 😲

Meanwhile, those who were selected by more than one captain got the privilege to pick the captain of their choice!

Those who weren’t chosen were placed in a holding zone, where a select few were given the chance to perform a second time. Once all 40 dancer slots were filled, the remaining dancers were eliminated automatically.

It’s more than just entertainment and dance

Its mix of sports, dance, and entertainment also make it a fun watch that unites Malaysians, as families and friends bond over the show and rally behind the diverse group of dancers.

Beyond dancing, the Ministry is also expanding its youth empowerment programs in other areas through the Rakan Muda initiative.

What is Rakan Muda?

Rakan Muda is a programme to foster interest, hone talent and highlight the potential of youths aged 15 to 30.

It offers workshops and programs that focus on enhancing talents and passions while equipping participants with life skills.

Within the Rakan Muda movement, there’s also an extension known as Rakan Demokrasi, and one of its latest initiatives is Sekolah Rukun Negara. Led by the Institute of Leadership Excellence and Development (i-LEAD), the programme aims to educate youth about democracy and drive a better understanding of the Rukun Negara. It’s also an effort to foster unity and harmony among young Malaysians of all races.

How to sign up for Rakan Muda?

Access to educational and life-skill activities aren’t the only perks you’ll get when you join Rakan Muda. You’ll also get to meet new friends and build networks, which will in turn, give your self-confidence a boost!

What’s more, there are rewards to score courtesy of the Ministry’s strategic partners such as Grab, foodpanda, Shopee and Lazada.
