Veteran actor Unnikrishnan Namboothiri has passed away in Kannur, India. He was 98. Unnikrishnan had tested positive for COVID-19 recently. After receiving treatment in the intensive care unit, on 19 January, he was sent home upon testing negative for COVID-19. The next day, however, his health quickly deteriorated and he was rushed back to hospital. The veteran’s death was due to poor health.
The actor was known for his pivotal role in Kamal Haasan’s hit comedy-drama, Pammal K Sambandam and also notably in the 2000 hit Kandukondien Kandukondien. The witty grandfather roles that he played will always have a special place in our hearts.
Kamal Haasan had shared the news of the veteran’s passing on his Facebook page quoting “Unnikrishnan Namboodiri, who came to acting at the age of 73 and made Malayalees laugh for 18 years. As a young grandfather, he was a man of the art. The man who was supposed to be a century old in 2 more years has left us today. Heartfelt condolences.”
