Those who have contracted the influenza should be hydrated and seek medical advice immediately or if there are symptoms such as flu, sore throat, prolonged coughing, muscles aches and joint pains. It is vital not to allow the throat to dry up, by keeping it moist by taking 50-80cc of warm water. The virus is capable of invading the body within 10 minutes of the throat drying up so be sure to take a sip of water time to time.
It is also extremely important to maintain good hygiene by regularly washing the hands in order to minimize the risk of contracting the infection as well as preventing the spread of infection. If there is a need to go to a public or crowded place, one should wear a mask, and those who have the influenza are advised to stay home. Last but not least, everyone is strongly encouraged to get vaccinated if you have not already done so, especially if you have a low immune systems or fall and those in the high risk groups including children under the age of five, senior citizens, pregnant women, diabetic or obese.
