Superintendent Saranavan Kanniappan has been appointed as the Assistant Director of the NCB Interpol, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Royal Malaysian Police.
Saravanan Kanniappan obtained his BSc (Hons) Biomedical Sciences in 2001 from University Putra Malaysia.
He started his career in the Royal Malaysian Police Department as an Assistant Superintendent of Police in 2003. He has vast experience serving in the Criminal Investigation and Anti-Narcotics Department in various investigation capacities.
In 2011, he won a Chevening Scholarship to undertake the MSc in Forensic Medical Sciences from Barts and The London School of Medicine, Queen Mary University of London.
He has also received a Diploma in Forensic Human Identification from the Royal College of Physicians London (UK).
Saravanan is an active member in various notable societies and associations such as The Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences, The British Association of Forensic Sciences and The American Association of Forensic Sciences.
Currently, he is pursuing his PhD at University College London in Forensic Medical Sciences.
