Leading others to develop their skills and capabilities to achieve success is one of the most selfless acts one can pursue. This is what Bavani Periasamy aspires to do for a living, and she’s one of the unsung heroes in the DIGIyin Saathanai Hero-kkal campaign.
From a young age, Bavani has been passionate about learning and development. She grew up with many family members who were teachers, which sparked her interest in understanding a person’s cognitive abilities and behaviours.
She began studying about psychometric assessment tools, which is a type of test that evaluates a candidate’s performance that includes, but is not limited to, skills, knowledge, abilities, personality traits, attitudes, as well as job or academic potential.

She even got herself certified in this area because she truly believes in helping others to become better versions of themselves. However, Bavani didn’t go straight into becoming a trainer from the start. She did sales in the IT industry for several years then moved on to training and coaching for over a decade.
This experience helped open doors for her to meet people from different industries and backgrounds. It also honed her strengths and capabilities to handle diverse clientele and help them become more aware of their own strengths and weaknesses for self-development.
Today, Bavani is a professional speaker, coach and trainer as well as the President of the Malaysian Association of Professional Speakers (MAPS). She’s also affiliated with the Global Speakers Federation (GSF) and a member of the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) Training Community Representative Committee.

Her work mainly revolves around conducting programmes for students and youth because she’s passionate about growing the future leaders of this country.
A big chunk of what she does includes team building, psychometric assessment, game-based learning, career coaching, and more. She also works with corporate clients to realise their goals in training and retaining talents.

During the movement control order last year, Bavani saw the plight that many of the less fortunate were facing, especially those who had trouble finding jobs and income. So she decided to work with unemployed graduates and small business owners by coaching them for free!
She also actively conducted virtual sessions on ‘Mastering Gratitude’ to help people find hope during challenging times and use the power of gratitude to achieve business goals.

Her dedication in this line of work has won Bavani a number of awards and recognitions, such as the Women Leadership Excellence Awards, Global Goodwill Ambassadors, Special Achievement Recipient at the 2019 Perdana Awards, Golden Globe Tigers 2017, and many more.
We look forward to all the future leaders that Bavani will continue to coach and train in the years to come. If you need a little push and motivation, you know who to reach out to!
