Annamah Abukutty, who officially turned 109 on March 31, was given the recognition at a ceremony in the Malaysian Book of Records office in Q Sentral.
She is officially Malaysia’s oldest living woman .
The impressive 109-year-old lady joined the RAAGA’s favorite breakfast duo Ahila and Suresh for a special Interview. During the interview she had expressed her humorous side by make fun and cracking jokes alongside the announcers.
She and her husband moved in to Malaysia as tree-cutter jobs during the British occupancy. Annamah is biologically 110 because her birth was only registered a year later in 1911. Annamah had five children, 2 of whom remained in India.
She now has 2 surviving children, 17 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, some of whom are in India.
Annamah told us some interesting facts about herself, she is well versed in herbal medicine and also claims her secret to her long and healthy life is the positive effects of the herbs that she uses. She also helps others with her herbal remedies and considers it a service to society and doesn’t change money.
The 109-year-old said she has lived a happy life and doesn’t carry any regrets, she wishes well for her family and all. We at RAAGA are deeply honoured and salute this iron woman. Join us in wishing her plenty more happy times ahead!
