Guests attending the housewarming ceremony at Srinivas Murthy’s residence were walked through the doors to were greeted with a sight that froze them in their tracks —saw a realistic life-sized statue of his late wife, Madhavi. The resemblance of the statue in the living room was uncanny.
“It left everyone speechless”, he said.
“I wanted to do something special in memory of my wife. She died three years ago in a car accident,” Srinivas Murthy narrated. Three years ago, MVK Madhavi was travelling to Tirupati, India with their two daughters when she met with a fatal accident. The driver allegedly tried to avoid a speeding truck along the, but the car crashed into the truck. Back of the truck rammed into the passenger side of the car, and Madhavi died immediately due to impact.” Srinivas said.
Madhavi’s death left the family broken. Srinivas Murthy had decided to construct a house in her memory 2 years ago, it was his wife’s dream to own a bungalow, He had approached over 25 architects, but none of their ideas of creating something special for his wife to resonated with him.
A while back, he had travelled to Gadag, India on business. Srinivas, heard from one of his vendors about an architect named Mahesh Rangannadavaru. Mahesh suggested that a life-size statue of Madhavi be installed in the foyer of living room in the new house.
Gombe Mane, a popular toymaker in Bengaluru city, India was hired to create his wife’s wax statue. “I gave them several pictures of my wife. She looks so real,” Srinivas marvelled.
“Everyone was so surprised. They all believed for a few seconds that it could actually be my wife. It was my wife’s dream to construct a bungalow. Now she is not there to live in it. The statue is a way to reinforce that she is still here,” Added the husband.
