From time to time, we find ourselves guilty of complaining about having too many burdens to shoulder. It’s time we reflect on the ones who have, yet manage to reach heights!
One shining example is Brigadier-General Suriakala Suriabagavan who becomes our first Indian female ‘two-star’ General on Saturday. We’re so proud!

She will be promoted in conjunction with the 87th Army Day in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on Sunday.
The grandmother of two was really commended by her chiefs for being very independent and dedicated in anything she does.
“Never did I imagine that someday I will break ranks to be promoted to such an esteemed level”, an excited Suriakala said.
Suriakala is from the third intake of women cadet officers from the short-service commission who enlisted with the Armed Forces way back in December, 1981.
She has a double Masters degree in management from University of Malaya, and social science from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
This inspiring story tells us that age is really just a number! Way to go, Brigadier-general Suriakala! Keep going!
