The MICA Awards, held at HGH Convention Centre in Sentul, just closed its curtains in its second edition and it was definitely an event to be remembered for many individuals involved in the local Indian entertainment scene.
The event began with a red carpet interview by our very own Suresh and Ahila of Kalakkal Kaalai followed by an eventful night filled with food, banter, performance and definitely recognition of all the hard work that goes into building up the local Indian entertainment scene.
Hosted by Vimalraj, Ratnaa Gowri and Revathy of Vedigundu Pasanga, the night was graced by the presence of names big and small in the industry, coming together to celebrate each other and the growth of the industry.
Among memorable awards presented is the Best Short Film award, which went to Paarvai. So all you budding filmmakers who are putting your best foot forward in an effort to make a masterpiece, do not despise your humble beginnings. It takes making an amazing short film to make a worthwhile theatrical film. So we here at Raaga would like to encourage all new comers to keep raising the bar!
The Awards also took the opportunity to celebrate some unsung heroes under the banner #DIGIletsinspire. These were everyday heroes of our communit,y who go out of their way to make life a better experience for their fellow humans. Among them were a doctor who provides free check-ups for those who can’t afford it, a jailer who gives hope of a better life to convicts and even a high school student who carries out recycling initiatives and donates the money she collects to cancer patients.
All in all it was a wonderful night of rewards, recognition and fellowship and the local entertainment fraternity definitely went home with a renewed enthusiasm to improve the quality of their art and bag trophies in coming editions of this prestigious awards night.
