India has nominated the iconic Durga Puja festival for the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) by UNESCO for the year 2020 and being a fan of culture and tradition dusted with a little party-with-the-Gods, we are definitely excited for the Durga Puja Festival to make the list. 

The festival promises sublime happiness decorated with fun, food and frolic that every Indian has to experience at least once in their lifetime.

Kolkata is often considered as the residing place of Goddess Durga among the Hindus of the world, solely for the scale at which the Durga Puja is celebrated in the city.

Every year during the festivities Kolkata gets dressed up beautifully by her inhabitants, like a bride on her wedding day. With the Durga Puja Festival being considered the epitome of the rich Bengali culture and tradition, the lengths that its people would go to in order to deck up the city to stand tall in its full glorious splendor is nothing short of remarkable. 

It is almost as if there is an emotional attachment towards the festival that contributes to the hard-to-describe, pulsating enthusiasm that fills the air.

One can expect their five senses to be optimally stimulated by the dazzling lights, larger-than-life puja pandals, the soulful dhunuchi naach, rhythmic sound of the dhaak and the morning Anjali, the alluring smell of bhog or prasad, the vibrant attires, radiant smiles and mouth-watering food.
