EPF is a good way of saving and we’re sure some will wonder what happens to all the hard-earned money once someone passes on. Well, when someone is pronounced dead, their next-of-kin can collect the deceased’s savings. Here are the criteria that one needs to fulfill:
- Deceased is Malaysian and a Permanent Resident or non-Malaysian under the age of 60.
- Application must be submitted within 6 month of the date the deceased were pronounced dead.
2. Bantuan Sara Hidup Tuntutan Skim Khairat Kematian (SKK)

If the family member who passed on within 1 January 2019 – 31 December 2019 was a recipient of Bantuan Sara Hidup (BSH) or Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M) , their next-of-kin can claim RM1000 under Skim Khairat Kematian from any Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) branch.
3. Skim Insurans Takaful Pelajar
This insurance covers your 24 hours for one whole year! Different claims can be made based on the type of incident that caused a loved one’s death. However, this scheme is only applicable for students from any government or government-aided schools.
