Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne virus affecting more than 390 million people each year. While the disease is generally mild, it can be deadly. Recently, there’s been a high increase in dengue cases in Malaysia. According to the Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, Malaysia is projected to record a higher number of dengue cases.
He said that 84 deaths were reported in that time frame compared to 83 in the same period last year.
“The Health Ministry (MOH) expects an increase in dengue cases with the second wave starting from early June until September 2020, as based on the trend of dengue fever cases over the last five years,” he said.
Here are 5 ways to prevent dengue!
1.Know your enemy
Dengue is usually spread through the bite of Aedes mosquito, especially when it acts as the carrier of the particular disease- causing virus. When the mosquito bites you, you get injected with some special venom, after which, it sucks your blood. Primarily, the disease finds its transmission in these criteria and subsequently leads to a dengue infection. Hence, proper knowledge of all possible ways of infection can keep you from getting exposed to the same.
