Transport Minister Anthony Loke has announced that drivers who do not break traffic laws will soon enjoy a discount on their annual car insurance and we are ecstatic to say the least.
The minister noted that this move would require the responsible bodies (Road Transport Department, police and insurance companies) to integrate data to identify individuals eligible for the discount.
The implementation is slated to come into effect in January next year as the Ministry is in final stages of completing the mechanism.
If that isn’t a great incentive to stick to our road rules, we don’t know what else is as the move doesn’t only encourage drivers to follow traffic laws, it also indirectly contributes to easing living costs!
We hope this up and coming system lowers road fatality rates and keeps our eyes peeled on the road while driving.
Loke said the Ministry plans to practice this reward-or-punish combination approach to reduce road accidents nationwide.
Is this workable? What do you think? Let us know in the comments and stay tuned to RAAGA!
