In a series of unfortunate events, a groom married the sister of his bride, who collapsed and died earlier in the wedding ceremony.  

Times of India reported that the wedding rituals were about to start at the Samaspura village in India when the bride named Surabhi complained she was feeling unwell before collapsing.

Despite being rushed to a hospital for treatment, Surabhi was declared dead by doctors, with her cause of death listed as a heart attack. After the doctor pronounced the bride dead, the families of the bride and groom agreed the bride’s younger sister, Nisha, would wed the groom.

As the family prepared for Surabhi's funeral, preparation for Nisha's wedding continued as her sister's dead body lay in another room in the house. 

Surabhi's brother Saurabh said it was hard to believe a dead body was in the other room and a bride was being prepared in the next one.

“We did not know what to do in the situation. Both the families sat together and someone suggested that my younger sister Nisha should be married to the groom. The families discussed the matter and both agreed,” he added.

The bizarre event has grabbed attention globally, with many criticizing the groom for not being empathetic of the situation and that the wedding should have been called off.
