In his latest live telecast to the Malaysian public, Education Minister Dr. Mohd Radzi bin Md Jidin has announced that schools nationwide will be reopened to students that are taking major examination
“The opening on Jun 24 is for students sitting for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM), Sijil Vokasional Malaysia (SVM) and Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM)” the Minister said.
In the live telecast, he said the first phase of re-opening will involve 500,444 students from more than 2,500 schools. While students of other educational levels will have to continue with home-based learning as the dates for school reopening have not been finalized. The Education Minister added that that an announcement will be made two weeks before classes resume.
At present, classrooms will continue to remain limited to 20 students maximum, depending on size, and schools will only be allowed to operate in these following hours according to SOP:
Single-session schools: 7.00am – 4.00pm
Double-session schools: 7.00am – 6.45pm
In addition, break times will be staggered, and food and drinks will be packed by canteen operators beforehand. Students are to eat in their classrooms only, after purchasing food from canteens.
