Sixty years ago, this great country we call home celebrated our independence. Since then, the 31^st of August has been an important date in the calendars of most Malaysians as it reminds us how far our country has come. It’s too bad that most of us weren’t there to celebrate along, but we hope it went something like this:

But, just because we were born a little too late doesn’t mean we can’t still celebrate our country’s independence with the same semangat. As we approach Hari Merdeka, Astro would like to invite you on a journey spanning 60 years, retracing the trials of our country in the Anak Merdeka episodic.

Anak Merdeka follows the lives of homegrown heroes Salleh (Remy Ishak), Boon (Elvis Chin), and Devi (Thanuja Ananthan) as they discover the ups and downs of life through friendship, love, loss, and hardship, and finally overcoming great odds by looking out for each other and becoming heroes in their own right. #kitasamahero

The six-episode Astro-exclusive series will run from the 26^th to the 31^st of August 2017 (one episode per day) on 9pm on Astro Prima (channel 105), Astro Mustika HD (channel 134), Astro Xi Yue HD (channel 300), and Astro Vaanavil (channel 201).
