For many of us, there are not enough hours in a day to do all that needs to be done. However, for 36-year-old Saandhi Sambad, that is not a factor that would stop her from spreading the knowledge of Yoga.
Hailing from Ipoh, Saandhi is a full time aircraft engineer with Malindo who uses her days off to teach yoga for free! Her journey with Yoga started while she was still an engineering student. According to Saandhi, she faced some physical difficulties during her work training. Taking up yoga helped her increase her flexibility and stamina.
Saandhi started off attending weekly yoga classes. A few years later, she took up an instructor’s course to expand her knowledge with no plans of teaching. However, Saandhi’s journey with this ancient art of exercise took a new turn as she began to share her knowledge with school students via school ran programs and yoga camps.
Ever since, organizing huge Yoga events are no new feat for Saandhi as she has facilitated many Yoga events over the years as an instructor.
Recently, Saandhi facilitated a crowd of more than 1000 people at the Kajang Stadium in collaboration with the Persatuan Sai Shine Malaysia.
Launched under the banner International Day Of Yoga 2019, Sandhi says the 4-hour-long event was fruitful with amazing participation from the crowd.
As a personal mission this year, Saandhi has been having this urge to teach Yoga for free. Acting on this, Saandhi posted an open invitation on Facebook for those who are interested to learn the art of Yoga for free.
“I feel yoga is basic foundation which everybody should have with them to practice to maintain good health. I'm offering a 2 days (5-6 hours) intensive training, teaching basic yoga poses with their health benefits, relaxation, breathing technique to improve lung capacity and simple detox for internal body cleansing.
“Having these knowledge, a person can practice about 30mins to 1hr yoga on their own confidently through memory. With this foundation it is up to them to progress further or to maintain, both ways being beneficial to their own well being, “ said Saandhi, who hopes she can give back to the community by enabling the public to be accountable for their health.
For Saandhi, there is nothing more rewarding than to see her students leaving her sessions better than how they came in, with their endorphins kicking in and many thanking her for the improvement in their mood, studies and discipline.
Her adult public programs saw to a lot of health issues being stabilized by simple detox and relaxation methods. In turn, Saandhi said she found personal fulfillment through the endeavor. Interested to take a few lessons with her? Look her up on FB and stay tuned with Raaga!
