5 ways to make someone’s day!

Life is not always sunshine and a bed of roses. However, what it is – constantly- is an ecosystem that is made up of a variety of characters, each walking their own journey while making the most of the cards they have been dealt.

When life gets a little hard to handle, we could all use a pick-me-up and some TLC.  Be it strangers, friends or family, here are 5 simple tips to making someone’s day better!

1. Random Compliments

Let’s be honest, who doesn’t like to be complimented? This is most apparent on a person who is regularly teased and shamed for their size or appearance. Throw a random yet heartfelt compliment their way and see their eyes light up instantly! If you’re naturally shy and reserved, try a sticky note. The trick to this is to make sure you MEAN WHAT YOU SAY!

2. Smile!

"To make the world a better place, one must show a friendly face," said James Whitcomb Riley. Unfortunately, we live in a world where smiles have become scarce. So put on a smile whenever you can and see the world smile         back at you.

A smile is not only the sexiest curve you can own, it also has the power to brighten another’s gloomy day!

3. Share your Snacks!

Who doesn’t love snacks? In every school or workplace, the presence of a cookie monster is a must! However, hoarding your snacks is sure to merely add to your pounds while serving no one – including you- any other benefits. So, as Deepavali approaches, share your murukku and palagarams with a open heart! You will surely fill a hungry tummy and put a smile on the faces of others.

4. Pay for someone’s meal!

It may seem like a weird thing to do, but the next time you’re at a mamak, look out for the weariest and gloomiest looking fellow patron(s).  When you find them, tell the waiter you’d like to pay their bill along with yours. Rest assured, you would have given them the strength to smile.

5. Donate!

There is unexplainable joy that comes from knowing we put food on the table for our families. The joy grows when we know we are the reason someone else’s kids are fed and clothed and that there are less hungry people in the country. So do your part and come down to donate at RAAGA’s Deepavali Donation Drive!

Not everyone has extra cash to share, however, if there are any clothes, shoes and non-perishable food items, be sure to bring them and drop them off at our collection location. Click on the link for further details.
