Recently, 106-year-old Bhageerathi Amma won the hearts of millions after returning back to school to complete her education and sit for class-4 examinations. And if you thought that was impressive, 98-year-old Karthyayani Amma, topped the Kerala State Literacy Mission’s examination with an impressive score of 98 out of 100! Now the iron-willed women are giving their thirst for education a digital upgrade.

Both grannies have taken up online classes recently — adapting to learn through computer screens instead of blackboards. Both are trying to get used to the “new normal” – learning via digital screens.

Bhageerathi Amma finds it a little difficult to concentrate on her online classes with her grandchildren running around the house, but she manages to remain focused during her classes in the study room. Meanwhile, Karthyayani Amma, spends most of her time in front of the computer screen reading her study notes and watching educational videos.

It is inspiring to see these two amazing senior citizens chasing chase their hunger for knowledge regardless of the obstacles! They have proven that if one is willing to learn, nothing can stop them, not even a pandemic.
