Dhee was born on 26th June, 1998 to Sri Lankan Tamil classical singer, Meenakshi Iyer, who later remarried Indian composer, Santhosh Narayanan.
She began her playback singing career by performing songs in two of Santhosh Narayanan’s albums, Pizza II: Villa (2013) and Cuckoo (2014), during breaks from her education. Dhee made a breakthrough by singing "Naan Nee" from Pa. Ranjith's Madras (2014) alongside Shakthisree Gopalan. Her performance earned her nominations for Best Female Singer at the Filmfare Awards and the Vijay Awards.
Dheekshitha's amazing vocals were well received for her work in Sudha Kongara's sports drama film, Irudhi Suttru (2016). Dhee later worked with Santhosh Narayanan on a number of albums including Kaala (2018) and Vada Chennai (2018), before collaborating with Yuvan Shankar Raja for the song "Rowdy Baby" in Maari 2 (2018). Singing alongside Dhanush, the song started trending soon after its release. The song raked in over 1 billion views on YouTube, making it the most-viewed Tamil music video, and one of the most-viewed Indian videos of all time.
Dhee’s recent track ‘ Enjoy Enjaami’, produced by Santhosh, is the latest Tamil song that everyone is grooving to, since its release on Maajja’s YouTube channel. Maajjaa is a platform by singer-composer, A R Rahman, which was launched to support indie musicians and bring forth their talent to the global stage.
Join us as we celebrate Dhee throughout the month of April!
