Thailand pulls out of Thomas/Uber Cup Finals

Thailand has pulled out of next month's Thomas and Uber Cup Finals due to a combination of injuries and concerns about the Covid-19 situation.
They are the third country to opt out after Taiwan and Australia.

The Badminton World Federation says the tournament will continue as scheduled in Denmark from October 3rd, with the replacements yet to be announced.

Serena Williams is through to the quarterfinals of the US tennis Open after a hard-fought three sets win over Maria Sakkari.
The American is seeking a record-equalling 24th Grand Slam title.
Williams is joined in the last eight by fourth seed Naomi Osaka, who recorded a straight sets win over Anett Kontaveit.
Meanwhile, Dominic Thiem is safely through to the quarterfinals of the men's draw.
The second seed is the new favourite for the title following the disqualification of Novak Djokovic.
Rodriguez joins the Toffees
Everton have completed the signing of attacking midfielder James Rodriguez from Real Madrid.
The former World Cup Golden Boot winner joins the Toffees on a two-year deal worth 20 million pounds.

This is the third time Rodriguez is teaming up with Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti, having previously joined the Italian at Madrid and Bayern Munich.
Another PSG player tests positive
PSG striker Kylian Mbappe has tested positive for the coronavirus.
He is the seventh player from the club to test positive, and will now miss France's Nations League tie against Croatia tomorrow morning.
