Chelsea and Arsenal power into Europa League quarters

Olivier Giroud scored a hat-trick, as Chelsea thrashed Dynamo Kiev 5-nil in the second leg of their Europa League last-16 clash this morning.

This was the Ukrainian side's worst-ever European home defeat, with The Blues moving into the quarterfinals on an 8-nil aggregate.

Marcos Alonso and Callum Hudson-Odoi also found the back of the net.

Elsewhere, Arsenal came from behind to defeat French side Rennes 3-nil, advancing to the quarters 4-3 on aggregate.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice, while youngster Ainsley Maitland-Niles also got on the scoresheet.

Arsenal charged over Chris Smalling fan pitch invasion incident

Arsenal have been charged by the English FA, after a fan confronted Man United defender Chris Smalling on the pitch, during their Premier League match last weekend.

The 30-year-old Gunners fan himself has been charged with common assault, and encroaching on to the pitch.

Paul Scholes leaves role as Oldham manager

Former Man United and England midfielder Paul Scholes has resigned as Oldham boss after just 31 days.

The 44-year-old was only in charge of the Championship side for seven matches, winning just one.
