Liverpool edge closer to the Champions League final

Liverpool have taken a big step towards the Champions League final.

They defeated Villarreal 2-0 in their semi-final first leg at Anfield this morning.

The Reds had to wait until the 53^rd minute to break the deadlock, benefiting from a Villarreal own goal, deflected off a Jordan Henderson strike.

Sadio Mane sealed the win several minutes later.

The two sides will meet again in the return leg next Wednesday.

Inter Milan missed the chance to move top of the Serie A standings…after falling to a 2-1 defeat to Bologna.
