brighton knock man utd out of the fa cup

Man United have crashed out of the FA Cup after a 2-1 loss to Brighton in the third round.

United had earlier also suffered a second-round exit from the League Cup, meaning they are out of both domestic cup competitions at the earliest possible stage for the first time since the 1981/82 season.

The Red Devils have also only won once in their last seven games across all competitions.

In other selected FA Cup results…Gabriel Martineli netted a hattrick as Arsenal thrashed Portsmouth 4-1.

Leeds defeated Derby County 3-1.

While West Ham overcame QPR 2-1 after extra-time.

-

Elsewhere…Raphinha scored twice, including a second-half winner, as Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 3-2 to retain their Spanish Super Cup title.

This is also Barca’s 16th Super Cup title overall.

-

Over in the Serie A…leaders Inter hold a three-point lead at the top of the standings after a 2-2 draw with Napoli.

While second-placed AC Milan played out a 1-1 draw with Fiorentina.

-

And, the Prime Minister has paid tribute to Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik…who put up a strong fight before going down in three sets to top seeds Kim Won Ho and Seo Seung Jae in the men’s doubles final at the Malaysian Badminton Open.
