Macclesfield Stun Palace In The FA Cup

Lower-league side Macclesfield Town has pulled off one of the biggest shocks in FA Cup history, by beating holders Crystal Palace 2-1 in the third round.

They are the first minor league club to beat the holders for more than a hundred years.

Macclesfield, who are 117 places below Palace, are incidentally managed by former Man United and England star Wayne Rooney’s younger brother John.

In other selected FA Cup results…Man City recorded a thumping 10-1 win over Exeter.

Newcastle needed penalties to get past Bournemouth, after the match finished 3-3 in extra time.

Chelsea had a 5-1 win over Charlton.

While Aston Villa defeated Tottenham 2-1.

Over at the Africa Cup of Nations, Egypt defeated holders Ivory Coast 3-2 to make the semifinals…while Nigeria also advanced after beating Algeria 2-0.

Back home…in Malaysian Super League action…Terengganu overcame PDRM 1-0…Immigration overcame Kelantan The Real Warriors 3-0…while Selangor had a 5-2 win over DPMM.

And, Malaysia’s Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik will be in action in the men’s doubles final at the Malaysian Badminton Open today, where they will take on South Korea’s Kim Won Ho and Seo Seung Jae.
