EFL Cup: Newcastle Gun Down Arsenal

Newcastle have cruised into the EFL Cup final after beating Arsenal 2-0 this morning and 4-0 on aggregate in the semis.

The Magpies are now one step closer to ending their 56-year wait for a major trophy.

They will next face the winners of tomorrow’s other semifinal between Liverpool and Tottenham, with Spurs holding a one-goal advantage from the first leg.

Real Madrid have avoided a major upset by beating Leganes 3-2 in the Copa Del Rey quarterfinal this morning.

Rookie Gonzalo Garcia – who was making his first appearance for Real this season - netted the winning goal deep into stoppage time.

JDT defeated PDRM 4-0 to move closer to securing their 11^th successive Malaysian Super League title.

The Southern Tigers have five games remaining and are 16 points clear of second placed Selangor, who have a game in hand.

Separately, Terengganu lost 4-3 to BG Pathum United to miss out on a place in the semifinals of the ASEAN Club Championships.

Reigning MotoGP champion Jorge Martin has suffered a fractured hand and foot after a heavy crash during pre-season testing in Sepang, with the Spaniard to fly back to Europe today for further treatment.
