Vincent Kompany misses his own farewell game

Former Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany ended up missing his own testimonial match. 

The 33-year-old was forced to sit out the 2-all draw between a City Legends side and the Premier League Legends, because of a hamstring injury.

There was some consolation for Kompany though, as City will be unveiling a statue of the defender at the Etihad, and naming a road at their academy after the club's most succesful skipper.

Arda Turan sentenced for firing gun in hospital

Turkish international midfielder Arda Turan has been handed a nearly three-year suspended jail sentence, for firing a gun inside a hospital after a fight with a pop star.

The 32-year-old, who is currently playing in Turkey on loan from Barcelona, will avoid being sent to prison, unless he commits another crime in the next five years.

BAM launches Project 24 in Olympics and Thomas Cup prep

The Badminton Association of Malaysia has launched a new project, with the aim of winning an Olympic gold medal and securing a place in the Thomas Cup final in 2024.

Project 24 will see a change in structure within the BAM, to help it achieve its targets more strategically and efficiently. 

It came as Malaysian badminton legend Datuk Lee Chong Wei also said he's prepared to give his input to help improve the national singles lineup.
