Real Madrid legend Raul front-runner to replace Santiago Solari

Mar 06, 2019

Real Madrid legend Raul is the latest name to be linked with the manager's job at the Bernabeu.

This, as Santiago Solari's days as head coach are numbered, following his side's shock exit from the Champions League, at the hands of Ajax this morning.

Former Real assistant coach Paul Clement has weighed in on the situation, and agrees that Raul would be the preferred choice.

"I think someone with experience, and not necessarily experience managing at high level accross Europe. Although I think that would be beneficial coz Real Madrid are a huge club. But it could also be someone who's got great affinity with the fans and the club. I saw Raul is being spoken about. There's no one who knows the club more than he does. So it doesnt necessarily have to be someone from outside."

Tottenham's Mauricio Pochettino, Juventus manager Max Allegri, and Germany coach Joachim Low have also been linked with the post.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's status at Norway's Molde uncertain

Manchester United interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer isn't sure if he's still contracted to Norwegian club Molde.

Earlier reports claimed Solskjaer was loaned to United, and that he would return to Norway at the end of the season, but a story about him signing a new three-year deal with Molde has been removed from the club's website.

While Solskjaer is widely expected to be named United's permanent manager, he says he still has plans to go back.

Oceania nations included in 19th Asian Games

Oceania nations have been invited to compete in team events, such as football and basketball, at the Asian Games for the first time, come 2022.

The invitation has ruled out sports such as swimming and track cycling, which Australia would be expected to dominate.

Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific islands have not taken part in the Games before, but sporting ties with Asia have been growing.
