F1 plans eight-race European calendar for starters

May 28, 2020

Formula 1 is reportedly set to unveil a provisional eight-race calendar, in hopes to finally get the 2020 season underway behind closed doors.

The season will still begin on July 5th with a double-header in Austria, before moving to Hungary for round three.

After that, there will be a week’s break before F1 travels to Silverstone for two British GPs in early-August, and then onto Barcelona for the Spanish GP.

Some races are still in limbo due to the uncertain effects of the coronavirus pandemic in its respective countries, but the calendar is expected to be confirmed on Monday.

The return of the Dutch F1 GP has been postponed till 2021, and officially dropped from the 2020 calendar.

The Netherlands remains subject to tight restrictions on public events, and organisers don’t like the idea of having a comeback race without spectators, having sold out some months ago.

The Dutch GP was last held in 1985, which saw Austrian legend Niki Lauda take his 25th and final race victory.

Liverpool won't pay for Timo Werner

Liverpool have withdrawn from the race to sign RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner, after refusing to meet his 50 million-pound release clause.

It’s understood the club are facing a shortfall of up to 100 million pounds over the next year, and they’re expected to raise funds by selling players this summer.
