It comes after matches were suspended due to Covid-19, with questions remaining about when the Premiership could start again, if at all.
There are now proposals that if the league does not resume - then leaders Liverpool should be handed the Premiership title, with no teams to be relegated from the top flight.
Instead, the top two teams from the Championship would be promoted.
Five teams would then be relegated at the end of the 2020/2021 season to balance out the numbers again.
Premier League officials are set to meet on Thursday to discuss their next course of action.
Meanwhile, UEFA is set to meet on Tuesday to discuss the fate of the Euro 2020 tournament amid the global coronavirus outbreak.
As it stands, its looking likely the event - which has been scheduled for June - will be postponed.
F1 is taking steps, too
