Bottas wins F1 season-opener in Austria

Valtteri Bottas has won the season-opening Austrian F1 GP, taking the chequered flag after an incident-filled race.

His Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton finished second, but was later demoted to fourth place for a collision with Alexander Albon.

It allowed Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc to move up to second, with McLaren’s Lando Norris taking third for his first ever F1 podium finish.

Liverpool close in on home record

Over in the Premiership, Liverpool defeated Aston Villa 2-0 at Anfield.

The Reds needed 71 minutes to open the scoring thru Sadio Mane, before Curtis Jones wrapped up the win with his first ever League goal for the club.

Liverpool have now won all 17 of their games at Anfield so far, and are two victories away from becoming the first team to win every home game in a Premier League season.

Meanwhile, Southampton pulled off a surprise 1-0 win over Man City.

Che Adams netted the winner with a long-range effort, for his first league goal for the Saints.

Real are almost there...

Real Madrid are edging closer to the La Liga title, after they ground out a 1-0 win over Athletic Bilbao this morning.

Sergio Ramos netted the winner from the penalty spot.

The result leaves Real four points clear of second-placed Barcelona with four games to go.

Barca kept their slim title hopes alive, with a 4-1 win over Villareal.
