Andreescu wins US Open

Sep 08, 2019

Bianca Andreescu has won the US open by stunning Serena Williams in the women's singles final.

The 19-year-old Andreescu is now the youngest winner of a Grand Slam, since Maria Sharapova won at Flushing Meadows in 2006 US Open.

Meanwhile, it was Williams' a fourth consecutive defeat in a major final, and it denied her a record-equaling 24th Slam title.

Rafa Nadal will take on Daniil Medvedev in the men's final tomorrow morning.

The EPL has seen its first managerial sacking of the season, after Watford dismissed boss Javi Gracia.

Gracia was let go after a poor start to the season, with Watford lying at the bottom of the table with just 1 point from 4 matches.

He's been replaced by former boss, Quique Sanchez Flores, who previously managed the club for the 2015-16 campaign.

France's Euro 2020 qualifier against Albania in Paris started off farcically, as the wrong national anthem was played for the visititing team.

The stadium played Andorra's anthem by mistake, and because of this, kick-off was delayed for several minutes as Albania refused to start the match unless the error was fixed.

France coach Didier Deschamps issued a public apoligy to the Albanian team over the blunder.

France went on to win the game 4-1, to top  top Group H on goal difference.

In other qualifiers, England beat Bulgaria 4-nil to top Group A

While in Group B, Portugal defeated Serbia 4-2
