Euro 2020: Switzerland pull off a shock win over France

Switzerland have pulled off one of the biggest upsets at the European Championships, after a 5-4 penalty shootout win over world champions France in the last-16 this morning.
The game was tied at 3-all after regulation and extra time before going to spot kicks.
The Swiss managed to convert all their penalties, but Kylian Mbappe had his final kicked saved by Yann Sommer.

This is the first time since 2010 that the French have failed to reach the quarterfinals of a major tournament.
Switzerland will next take on Spain in the last eight…with the Spaniards booking their place after a 5-3 extra-time win over Croatia.

Croatia fought back from 3-1 down to draw level and take the game into extra-time…only for the Spaniards to score twice more.
Spain are now the first side in European Championship history to score five or more goals in consecutive matches – having earlier beaten Slovakia 5-0 in the group stage.

Former England captain Stuart Pearce has branded Liverpool as selfish, for refusing to allow Mo Salah to play for Egypt at the Tokyo Olympics.
Pearce, who also managed the Great Britain team at the 2012 Games in London…says Liverpool are only thinking of their own interests, adding that there is no greater honour for a player than representing their country.

Stefanos Tsitsipas is the biggest casualty of the men’s draw at Wimbledon…after the third seed suffered an opening round defeat to Frances Tiafoe.
Meanwhile, tenth seed and two-time champion Petra Kvitova is out of the women’s draw, after a first round defeat to Sloane Stephens.
