Zii Jia WITHDRAWS from Singapore Open!

May 29, 2024

zii jia withdraws from singapore open!

Malaysia will have one less rep in the opening rounds of the Singapore badminton Open today.

Lee Zii Jia has pulled out of the tournament after a medical assessment.

The men's singles shuttler explained that it's due to hamstring injuries he picked up at the recent Thailand Open and Malaysian Masters.

Zii Jia was scheduled to play against his Indonesian opponent today, which would have been his 11th match in just 2 weeks.

Meanwhile, mixed doubles pair Goh Soon Huat/Shevon Lai started their campaign with a straight sets victory over their opponents from India.

Compatriots Tan Kian Meng/Lai Pei Jing also advanced after beating their German opponents, also in straight sets.

Tottenham have reached a decision over RB Leipzig loanee Timo Werner.

Sources say Spurs will extend their loan for the forward for the 2024 – 25 campaign instead of triggering a permanent deal.

---

Brighton have reportedly identified former Chelsea boss Graham Potter as a potential candidate to replace outgoing boss Roberto De Zerbi.

---

And Mick Schumacher is refusing to rule out a return to F1 after Alpine‘s drivers collided on the opening lap in the Monte Carlo GP on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Alpine team boss issued driver Esteban Ocon a stern warning over the incident, adding that there will be stern consequences for the next race in Canada.
